CATHHALIM: MY SKINCARE REGIME

When it comes to my own beauty regime, I believe in going back to the basics. I've never had major skin problems or anything that is too concerning. Having a combination skin means that I combine several products to maintain my facial condition. My skin is also prone to redness and irritation. Read on to find out the products that I use and why I use them.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR SKIN
My favourite and absolute to-go-to brand is Glossier which prides itself in "Skin First, Makeup Second". I am the most lucky girl to have met Emily Weiss, the founder and CEO of Glossier on the plane. This was the moment when I told her how much I loved her product, not only because of its branding but because of how well it works on my skin. Enough of my fangirling but realy, the most important part of my beauty regime is to maintain great skin condition. This includes drinking lots of water, making sure that you're properly cleansing your face and also, using products that are suitable for your skin!

Step 1: Cleansing!

Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser
I use this as my daily cleanser because it removes my makeup completely when used on a dry face. Some said that it only removes your makeup if you're wearing extremely light makeup. My friend, Melle, has tried this personally and she vouches that it removes even the darkest lips.

Grown Alchemist Exfoliant
This is by far one of the weirdest smelling products I own (second one being Sunday Riley Good Genes) but is one of the most awesome scrubs that you'll ever discover. I came to realization that well designed products like Grown Alchemist should be given a chance. It does its job really well and works wonders. I have tried different scrubs such as Aesop's Facial Exfoliant — which doesn't come cheap yet doesn't work as well as Grown Alchemist's. All natural, affordable, this is the scrub that I use once every two weeks.

Sukin Facial Scrub
Sukin is a great, affordable all-natural skincare that is also good for the Earth. The Super Greens Detoxifying Facial scrub one that I use alternatively with my Grown Alchemist exfoliant.  I get some pretty bad whiteheads during the time of the month so this is super important in my beauty regime.

Step 2: Toners!
Bioderma Sensibio H20
I don't use facial toners everyday, probably alternate days only or when my skin is going through pre-menstrual situations. This Bioderma toner also acts as a makeup remover. This comes in handy especially on days that I wear a heavier layer of makeup.

Step 3: Masks!

Glossier Mega Greens Galaxy Pack
My go-to to detoxify my face every single month is Glossier's Mega Greens mask. This mask is exactly like a detox for my face and purges all the unnecessary bad stuff.

Origins Charcoal Mask
This is a purifying detox mask that you will need at least once a month. On days that I need to literally regurgitate all the toxins out of my face, this is the mask that I go to. Apply it after cleansing your face, wash off and then serum time!

Step 4: Serums!
The best part of post-cleansing is serums, which I apply before moisturizing. I love serums because they make my face brighter and my skin is more supple every time I use them. I tend to use serums about 3 to 4 times a week, depending on the state of my facial condition. Some days (especially before my monthly menstrual cycle), my skin gets blotchy and irritated easily. Serums help to calm my skin.

Sukin Super Greens Serum
Affordable and light, this Sukin serum is one that I use very often. I switch it up with Bioderma's Hydrobio serum to get maximum results.

Bioderma Hydrobio Serum
My skin gets oily around the t-zone areas and there are some products that I have to stay completely away from. This serum has a water base and is a great product for those who tends to have oily skin. Available in most drugstores, this serum is affordable and effective. It also gives your skin a good dose of moisture. As it is light on the skin, I sometimes use it in the day as well.

Step 5: Fixing Problems!

Sunday Riley Good Genes
Probably the most expensive skincare product that I've purchased in my life, but I vouch for it with my life. Sunday Rile Good Genes is a multi-tasking treatment cream for use before your mosturizers and sunscreen. Due to the fairness of my skin, I am susceptible to sun spots very easily. This product has proven to help brighten my sunspots and smooth out fine lines on my face. As this product is really strong, I do not recommend it for anyone with sensitive skin. I also don't use this every day, so do take extra precautions if you're trying out this product.

Step 6: Mosturizing!
Mosturizing is the last part of my skincare routine. My combination skin means that I tend to get oilier around my t-zone so I am careful about the products I use around this area. I love serums more than mosturizers and it works far more effectively than compared to mosturizers. I know some of my friends do serums and then mosturizers but its far more important to listen to your own skin. I only apply mosturizers at least once a week — when my skin is in dire thirst. I also tend to not apply it around my t-zone.

Sukin Facial Mosturizer
My absolute favourite mosturizer, affordable and organic. Nuff said really but this does its job so I am glad I discovered Sukin and introduced it into my skincare routine.

Fresh Black Tea Overnight Mask
Apart from my serum, I tend to add another layer of mosturizer once a week. This mask from Fresh is a leave-in overnight mask and is also suitable for dry skin. Due to my combination skin, I only need this once a week.
